About Poseidon Principles
The Poseidon Principles is a global framework for assessing and disclosing the climate alignment of financial institutions' shipping portfolios. Launched in 2019, the initiative aims to promote sustainable shipping finance by providing a set of principles that banks and financial institutions can adopt to ensure their lending practices support the transition to a low-carbon economy. The principles are designed to help financial institutions align their portfolios with the goals of the Paris Agreement, thereby encouraging the shipping industry to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
